Antoinette Z. Spinazzola

June 13, 1933 – Nov. 8, 2019

Antoinette Spinazzola, 86, Altoona, went home to be with the Lord on Friday at Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg. She was born in Tyrone, daughter of the late John B. and Antonette (Calabro) Zanghi. On June 16, 1956, she married Angelo J. Spinazzola at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on July 17, 2014.

Antoinette is survived by her loving daughter, Debra, of Washington, D.C.; 6 nephews; 5 nieces; 10 great nephews; 10 great nieces, and numerous relatives throughout the U.S., Italy, and Switzerland. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Santa Rose Schultz and Joanna Harris.

Antoinette was a 1951 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. As a student, she was active as a school newspaper reporter, participated in the drama club, girls chorus, mixed chorus, and was a Tyrone High School majorette.

She retired in 1989 from AT&T in Harrisburg, PA after a combined 35 and a half years of service at Bell Telephone in Altoona and AT&T. During her career she held various management positions, such as division budget supervisor and chief of operator services. In 1983, at the divestiture of the Bell Atlantic and AT&T companies, she transferred to the management services staff offices of Bell Atlantic in Washington D.C., where she held the position of Assistant Division Chief for Financial Performance.

She was of Catholic Faith, attending Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Altoona.

Antoinette enjoyed traveling, lunch with friends, classical music, reading, games, flower crafts, and most especially being with her daughter and late husband.

She was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers and many other memberships in organizations she enjoyed.

Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2019 in the Santella Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11am at the funeral home with committal at Calvary Cemetery.
