Harry R. Pellegrine

Harry R. Pellegrine, 83, Altoona, passed away Thursday at home, surrounded by his loving family, after an extended illness.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Umberto and Adella Pellegrine. He married Donna Courtney in August 1964.

Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years; a son, Harry (Robin) Pellegrine Jr.; two daughters: Shari (Mike) Grassi and Natalie Stultz; eight grandchildren: Dr. Annie Grassi, Harrison, Adyson, Grayson, Jaxson and Mayson Pellegrine and Alana and Maddox Stultz; a brother, Steve (Theresa) Pellegrine; a special nephew, Albert (Barbara) Venturato; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Harry graduated from Altoona High School in 1955 and served four years in the U.S. Army. He owned Amoco Service Station; and then in 1964, he and his brother purchased what became Pellegrine's Bar - the first sports bar in Altoona. He owned Pellegrine's for 52 years.

Harry was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the UVA and Bavarian clubs, and an avid Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers fan whose favorite saying was "Who Cares?" "We do!"

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on  Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery with full military honors.
