James M. Lenz

James M. Lenz, 82, Altoona, passed away Saturday at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.

He was born in Altoona, son of Ludwig and Katherina (Schnell) Lenz. He married Eddith Holton, who passed away in 1965. He then married Esther Robertazzi, who passed away in 2006.

Surviving are two daughters: Gale Mays of Warrington and Sharon J. Lang (Randy) of Altoona; three grandchildren: Ian and Patrick Lang and Matthew Kavalek; and a great-granddaughter, Meleah Jane Lang.

He was preceded in death by two adopted siblings: Mary Miller and Matilda Maretich.

Jim served in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman 2nd Class during the Korean War. He retired as a manager from Golf World and had also worked at Scotch Valley and Chestnut Ridge country clubs.

Jim was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. He was a life member of the Bavarian Aid Society and Sinking Valley Country Club. He had a passion for sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and golfing.

Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, followed by full military honors. Committal will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Restoration Fund or to Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.
