Kenneth E. 'Kenny' Zitsch Sr.

Aug. 9, 1936 - Feb. 19, 2020

Kenneth E. "Kenny" Zitsch Sr., 83, Altoona, passed away peacefully Wednesday at his home, surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Lester and Elsie (Elway) Zitsch. He married Nancy Thompson on June 4, 1979.

Surviving are his wife; four daughters: Debra (Mike) O'Neill, Sherry Daughenbaugh, Tammy (Robert) Nesslein and Melissa (Don) Heverly; two sons: Kenneth Jr. (Georganne) and Kerrance Zitsch; 26 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Evelyn Zitsch and Ella Ann Grassmyer; a brother, Ralph (Donna) Zitsch; a special nephew, Marc (Tina) Reighard; two sisters-in-law: Lori (Gary) Sutcliffe and Regina Reighard; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Oliver and Paul Zitsch.

Kenny was an Altoona High School graduate and worked for the city of Altoona in the Sewage Department.

He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Altoona. Kenny was also a member of the Bavarian Aid Society and was a former member of the Kiwanis Club in Eldorado.

He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State. 

Special thanks to Grane Hospice, especially Amanda Zeek and N.A. Amy Craig, for taking extra special care of Kenny; and to his granddaughter, Dawn Landeck, who served as his nurse practitioner. 

Friends will be received for a noon memorial service Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 2121 Fifth Ave, Altoona. Arrangements are by Santella Funeral Home, Altoona.
