Michael A. Rubino

June 14, 1926 - April 16, 2017

Michael A. Rubino, 90, Altoona, passed away Sunday at his residence.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late John and Carmena (Mirabella) Rubino and the late Daisy Rubino who raised him. On July 15, 1950, he married Jane Maucieri.

Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years; a daughter, Michele (Christopher) McConnell; a sister, Carmena Schorner; several nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law: Anne Rubino and Carole Rubino.

He was preceded in death by three sisters: Dorothy Kinney, Violet Bidoli and Nell DellBaggio; and two brothers: John and George Rubino.

Michael was a 1944 graduate of Altoona High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran during WWII. He retired from Conrail with 45 years of service. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona, as well as a volunteer at Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum.

Friends will be received from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Santella Funeral Home, Altoona. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona. Committal will be at Calvary Mausoleum, Altoona.
