Nicholas F. ‘Nick’ Villano Jr.

Nicholas F. "Nick" Villano Jr., 82, Altoona, passed away Thursday at UPMC Altoona after an extended illness.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Nicholas F. Sr. and Anna M. (Musto) Villano. On Feb. 5, 1958, he married Nancy L. Duncan at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years; six children: Valarie A. Villano of Boulder, Colo.; Vincent F. of Indiana, Pa.; Vance P. and wife, Ratiba (Haddad), and their two children: Amber and Adam of Altoona; Victoria L. Porter and husband, Christopher, and their daughter, Audrey, of Portland, Ore.; Victor J. and wife, Jeanne (Hughes), and their two sons: Ryan and Joshua of Hot Springs, Ark.; and Von G. and wife. Christie (Walters). and their two children: Nicholas and Marissa of Altoona.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Francis.

Nick was a graduate of Altoona High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served during the Korean conflict.

He enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling and spending time laughing with his family, especially his grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

Friends will be received from 1 until the 2 p.m. funeral Mass celebrated on Monday, May 9, 2016, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona. Arrangements are by Santella Funeral Home, Altoona.

In honor of Nick, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 806 11th St., Altoona, PA 16602, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
