Nunzio C. Quintilli

July 30, 1928 – Feb. 22, 2015

Nunzio C. Quintilli, 86, Altoona, passed away Sunday at home.

He was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., son of Luigi and Vincenza (Bevenga) Quintilli. He married Mary Elizabeth DiBonto on April 23, 1949, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Gallitzin, and she died May 11, 1989.

Surviving are two daughters: Toni Dawsey of Alexandria, Va., and Shirley (Ike) Hendershot of Chantilly, Va.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Nunzio was a graduate of Altoona High School and served in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman third class during WWII. He retired as a bookbinder for the U.S. Government Printing Office and had previously worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and Puritan. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
