Pauline J. Hemond

April 19, 1924 – April 15, 2015

Pauline J. Hemond, 90, formerly of Altoona, passed away Wednesday at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.

She was born in Page, W.Va., daughter of Antonio and Domenica (Panzarotto) Bonanno. She married M. Roger Hemond, and he passed away in 1967.

Surviving are three daughters: Marie Lutchko (Leonard) in Connecticut, Elizabeth Hemond and husband, Chet Finnegan, of Imler and Margaret (Tom) Rockwell of Charleston, S.C.; a son, Paul (Sue) of Lititz; daughter-in-law, Sue Hemond; son-in-law, Tom Rockwell; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a close companion, John Hooper.

She was preceded in death by four brothers: Peter, Anthony, Joseph and William Bonanno; a sister, Anna Trullender; and a grandson, Neal Lutchko.

Pauline was a 1942 graduate of Altoona High School and retired as a certified nurse's aide from Valley View Home with 16 years of service. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.

Pauline enjoyed dancing, reading and crossword puzzles, and she especially loved her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Santella Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2015. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
