Virginia L. Ferraro

May 4, 1936 – May 27, 2015

Virginia L. Ferraro, 79, Blair Tower, Altoona, passed away Wednesday at UPMC Altoona.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of Ronald and Della (Burket) Hollen. She was twice married, first to Thomas Dougherty, who survives in New York, then to Elmer J. Ferraro, who passed away Aug. 18, 1988.

Also surviving are a son, Thomas W. Dougherty (Debora) of Hollidaysburg; three grandsons: Jason, Eric and Marc; three great-grandchildren: Chase, Nolan and Luke; a brother, Ken Hollen of Altoona; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Geraldine Engelman and Roxie McGeary; and two brothers: Rosco Leaper and Ronald Hollen.

Virginia worked for W.T. Grant and Murphy's Department Store. She enjoyed cooking for her family.

Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Santella Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at

6 p.m. by the Rev. James D. Zatalava. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
