Anthony J. Caso

Anthony J. Caso, 93, Altoona, passed away peacefully on Sunday at UPMC Altoona.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Giuseppe and Gesumina (Carino) Caso. On May 28, 1949, he married Nancy L. DiVentura.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years; four grandchildren: Edward Sipes IV, Bobbi Jo Sponslor, Naomi Greskovich and Matthew Ruscio; four great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Robert Sponslor; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three children: David, Carol Ann Sponslor and Lisa Caso; three sisters: Rose Robertson, Mary Parson and Angeline Lawson; and three brothers: Frank, Domenick and Joseph.

Tony was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the destroyer U.S.S. Wadsworth. He retired from SKF and had formerly worked for PRR. For many years, he volunteered for the St. Vincent DePaul Society, and he was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona.

Friends will be received from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, at Santella Funeral Home, Altoona. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona. Committal with military honors will be at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
