Caroline Ann ‘Carol’ Scacco

Aug. 6, 1934 - April 14, 2016

Caroline Ann "Carol" Scacco, 81, of Valrico, Fla., formerly of Altoona, passed away on April 14, 2106.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late John and Concetta (Manno) Minielli. On May 4, 1957, she married Alexander M. Scacco, who lovingly cared for his wife for 58 years until his passing on Sept. 15, 2015.

Surviving are four loving children: Anita Kazor (Gary) of Baltimore, Md., Alex Michael (Jackie) of Lebanon, Annette Harting (John) of Valrico, Fla., and Joseph (Jessica) of Hollidaysburg; six grandchildren: Ryan (Jennifer) and Dr. Joshua Scacco, Elizabeth Harting and Brandon, Matthew and Alyssa Kazor; two great-grandsons: Maciek Kazor and Cooper Hardesty; and three siblings: Johnny Minielli (Janice), Roseann Karstetter (Larry) and Charles "Chuck" Minielli (Connie), all of Altoona.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert and Danny Minielli; and two sisters: Josephine Page and Angeline Policichio.

Carol was a 1952 graduate of Altoona High School. She went on to work for S.S. Kresge Co. and was one of the inaugural management teams of K-Mart, Altoona, in 1967. She won two chairman's awards for her outstanding customer service. K-Mart shoppers always knew her for her beautiful smile and friendly personality.

Her hobbies included singing and dancing, and she recently took up watercolor painting. She was featured several times on Altoona's Amateur Hour and won many prizes for her vocal performances. Her three most recent paintings will be on display for auction at an Alzheimer's benefit in Tampa, Fla., at the end of April. She also enjoyed many lucky winning streaks at the horse races in "Charlie Town" and the Pennsylvania Daily Lottery.

Carol will always be remembered for the love and devotion that she had for her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the rest of her family. Everyone will miss her Sunday family dinners along with her "one of a kind" meatballs.

She was so appreciative of the love of family and friends that surrounded her and her husband their entire lives. Their memories will live on and their traditions will continue on in the family.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2016, at the Santella Funeral Home, Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
