Eleanor Toth

Feb. 14, 1934 – May 16, 2015

Eleanor Toth, 81, Altoona, passed away Saturday at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Johnstown, daughter of Sam and Anna (Marguccio) Marrocco. She married George A. Toth on June 6, 1959, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Johnstown.

She will be sadly missed by her beloved husband of 55 years; a daughter, Diane M. Sullivan (John L. Jr.) of Sewickley; three sons: Dr. G. Brian (Penny) of St. Marys and Bruce A. and Brice A., both of State College; five grandchildren: Jessica A. Steinbauer (Jeff), Julia L. Toth and Candice M., Natalie C. and Erin F. Sullivan; four great-grandchildren: Madison, Alec, Aurik and Gunar Steinbauer; and by her church family.

Eleanor was a 1952 graduate of Johnstown High School and a graduate of the Conemaugh Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital and Altoona Hospital. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. She enjoyed being involved in her parish community by serving in many church activities.

Eleanor currently was chairwoman of the Mount Carmel Parish Festival, the Italian Day Booth at DelGrosso's Amusement Park, Tipton, and the Lenten fish dinner, a position she was devoted to for many years. She was a member of the Order Sons of Italy in America Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was always there to help others.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Committal will be at Calvary Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Restoration Fund.
