Emily M. DeBernardis

Emily M. DeBernardis, 101, a resident of Maybrook Hills Health and Re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion Center, Altoona, pass­ed away Thurs­day at the home.

She was born in Bed­ford, daughter of the late Giochino and Antonia (Assenati) Lampo. On Nov. 14, 1942, she married Angelo A. DeBernardis, and he preceded her in death on May 2, 2002.

Surviving are two daughters: Carol (Pete) Lewis of Altoona and Janet (Rene) Damin of Ebensburg; five grandchildren: Darci (Trevor) Robinson of Altoona, Brent (Mary) Lewis of Chatham, N.J., Nicholas (Jenny) Damin and Kimberly and Andra Damin, all of Ebensburg; seven great-grandchildren: Meagan, Tyler and Halee Robinson, Will and Emily Lewis, and Olivia and Roman Damin; and a sister-in-law, Erma DeBernardis.

Emily was a 1935 graduate of Altoona High School and retired from Puritan Sportswear as a mender. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona.

She enjoyed reading, family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 18, 2018, at Santella Funeral Home, Altoona. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Altoona. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
