Florence Elaine Shover

Florence Elaine Shover, 85, Altoona, formerly of St. Leonard’s Home, Hollidaysburg,

passed away peacefully on Sunday after a brief illness, at Maybrook Hills Health & Rehabilitation Center in the presence of her children.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Grimorris) Kane. On June 3, 1949, she married William A. Shover.

Surviving are her six loving children: William S. (Robin) of Lancaster, Michele (Ross) DeBernardis of Jacksonville, Fla., Cynthia (Daniel) Daniels of Altoona, Jeffrey (Belinda) of Boca Raton, Fla., Brett (Garnett) of Altoona and Douglas (Lisa) of Altoona; 15 grandchildren: Lindsay, Sean, Kasie, Lori, Justin, Marc, Kelly, Matthew, Kaden, Danielle, Evan, Ashley, Marina, Ryan and Eli; six great-grandchildren: Nevaeh, Olivia, Wyatt, Lucca, Aiden and Sadie; and a special niece, Kim (Dane) Sager of Hollidaysburg.

She was preceded in death by a brother, James Kane; and a sister-in-law, Shirley.

Florence was a 1949 graduate of Altoona High School, and she previously worked as a ball bearing operator for SKF.

She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, adult coloring, framing interesting items such as coins, spending time with her family and shopping with her daughter, Cindy. One of Florence’s greatest delights was going to visit her children in Florida.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017, at Santella Funeral Home, Altoona, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Fr. Ronald Osinski officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Florence may be given to Saint Leonard’s Home, 601 N. Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
