Fr. Kenneth Charles LaPan, TOR

    Reverend Kenneth Charles LaPan, TOR, 97, died on December 5, 2019 at Garvey Manor – Our Lady of the Alleghenies Residence, Hollidaysburg, PA.

 
    He was born April 2, 1922 the child of Clarence and Helen (Meaghan) LaPan.

     He entered the Franciscans of the Third Order Regular, Province of the Immaculate Conception, USA in March, 1946 and professed his Vows on September 6, 1947. After completing his studies at the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC, he was ordained a priest on June 9, 1952. In the course of his 73 years of Franciscan vowed life, Father Kenneth served the Church and the Franciscan community in parochial work in many parishes, including St. Anthony of Padua Church, Windber, PA as Parochial Vicar, several parish in the Diocese of St. Cloud, MN as Pastor, and as Chaplain and Instructor on the Motherhouse Campus of the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls, MN. He retired from active ministry in 1984 and entered into a Ministry of Prayer at St. Bernardine Monastery, Hollidaysburg, PA. Fr. Kenneth had great devotion to St. Anthony of Padua.

    He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Ellen Lavorando, and survived by his Franciscan Community and a nephew Joseph Lavorando.

    Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 11 at St. Bernardine Monastery, where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 12 at the Monastery, the Very Reverend Fr. Frank Scornaienchi, TOR, Minister Provincial, as main celebrant, along with the members of the Third Order Regular Franciscan Community. Committal and a luncheon will follow at the Franciscan Friars’ Community Cemetery, St. Bernardine Monastery.
