Gailor L. Brazile

July 18, 1931 - June 30, 2017

Gailor L. Brazile, 85, a resident of Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, passed away Friday at

UPMC Altoona.

He was born in Tracy City, Tenn., son of the late Tobias and Eva Brazile. He married Arsilia Coccia, and she preceded him in death on April 17, 2004.

Surviving are four daughters: Lynna Flynn and Lisa, Ophelia and Aletta Brazile; a son, Toby Brazile; a stepson, Geno Crawford; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Brazile; three stepsons: Orville, Oliver and Carl Crawford; a granddaughter, Anastasia Leberfinger; a sister, Ophelia Spielvogle; and two brothers: Leon and Bill Brazile.

Gailor served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during the Korean conflict. He was a prisoner of war, earning a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars. He retired as a custodian at the Bunk House of the Pennsylvania Rail Road.

For 45 years, he enjoyed umpiring little league softball in the Altoona area.

Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at Santella Funeral Home, Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2017, at the funeral home, Monsignor Bernard Przybocki officiating. Committal with full military honors will be at Grandview Cemetery.
