Julia Ann Perretta

August 22, 1924 – April 16, 2019

Julia Ann Perretta, 94, of Garvey Manor Nursing Home, passed away peacefully Tuesday at the home. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Michael and Rita (Faretta) Labriola. On August 13, 1947 she married Anthony Perretta and he preceded her in death on March 20, 2011.

Surviving are three daughters: Linda (Daniel) Fochler, of Altoona, Rita (Bill) Turchetta, of Pittsburgh, and Sharon (Steve) Wells, of Altoona; 5 grandchildren: Danielle (Bryson), Josh, Sara (Zackary), Stephen, and Nicholas; 4 great-grandchildren: Allison, Emma, Troy, and Olivia. She is also survived by a niece, Lucille (Dan) Rodell; nephew-in-law, Terry Boyd and step-son, Rodney; and cousin, Julie Laura.

Julia was preceded in death by a sister, Anne Stachmus and niece, Joann Boyd.

Julia was a 1942 graduate of Altoona High School and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She worked as a hair stylist, certified nurse’s aid, and previously worked at Roaring River Mills and Gee Bees Department Store. For Julia, her family always came first. She was a loving, giving, and caring mother who gave selflessly every part of her being to her family and to others.

Julia enjoyed cooking and baking for family gatherings. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and was a creative and talented seamstress. Her artistic talent could be seen everywhere in her home.

As a devoted grandmother, Julia’s pride and joy was sharing time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she dearly loved.

Friends will be received from 2pm to 6pm Monday, April 22, 2019 in the Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Committal at Calvary Cemetery.
