Michael James DeStefano

Nov. 4, 1938 – Nov. 17, 2015

Michael James DeStefano, 77, of DeLand ,Fl formerly of Altoona passed away peacefully

surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday Nov. 17, 2015 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Ralph and Mary (Spallone) DeStefano. He married Darla Bare on Nov. 27, 1958 at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. She preceded him in death on Nov. 8, 2009.

Mike is survived by 5 children: Son, Michael (Joy) of Hollidaysburg. Daughters: Terry Destefano and Laurie (Steve) Robideux and son Mark (Michele) all of DeLand, Fl. A son Shawn of Charlotte, Nc. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, his siblings: Doris Daniels of Altoona, Lucille(Fred) of Hollidaysburg, and Joe(Joan) of North Carolina, and 2 sister-in-laws: Matilda and Margaret DeStefano.

He was preceded in death by his brother Ralph and infant sister Mary Ann.

Mike was a 1956 graduate of Altoona High School where he played football from '54 to '55. He was a salesman all his life and retired from ownership of Mid-State Hometown Directories in Altoona.

He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, reading, football and playing cards.

At the request of the deceased there will be no public viewing. A memorial mass will be celebrated Saturday Nov. 21, 2015 at St. Peters Catholic Church, DeLand, Fl. In memory of Mike donations may be given to the Central Pa Humane Society.
