He was born in Altoona, son of the late James D. and Rose (Venturato) Bongiorno. He married Carmela T. Baldessaro on Sept. 5, 1959, and she died July 22, 2012.

Surviving are two daughters: Kelly Pacifico of Altoona and Teresa Webber (Larry) of Gettysburg; two sons: Jim (Kate) and Dave, both of Duncansville; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a special aunt, Angie Eckhard.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Theresa.

Bun was a graduate of Greater Gallitzin High School and served in the U.S. Air Force as a staff sergeant during the Korean conflict from 1951-55. He retired from Benzel's Bretzel Bakery and Food Distributors. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and the Buccinese Society. He loved playing bocce, as well as making pizzelles and distributing them to family and friends.

Angelo was a family man, a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He had a heart of gold and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 2015, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery with full military honors .
