Angie A. Eckhard, 93, Altoona, passed away Wednesday at her residence.

She was born in Gallitzin, daughter of the late Angelo and Josephine (Zuzero) Bongiorno. She married Edward D. Eckhard, who preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 1990.

Surviving are a daughter, April Reffner (Robert Jr.) of Altoona; two sons: Dale Eckhard (Sarah Shawley) of East Freedom, and Rodney Eckhard (Kathy) of Altoona; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a close friend, Mary Gallagher.

She was the last surviving sibling of 11 in the Bongiorno family.

Angie retired as a day operator from Day Services of Blair County. She also worked at Child Advocate, Experience Works and the Altoona Vo-Tech program. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona, as well as the former St. Anthony Society. She enjoyed volunteering at the former Valley View Home and Hillview Heath and Rehabilitation Center.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 4, 2016, and from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at Santella Funeral Home, Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
