He was born in Newry, son of the late Frederick T. and Bernice C. (Bogel) Baker.

Surviving are a daughter, Janeen LeComte of Cresson; two sons: Dean (Mary Ann) Banholzer in Virginia and Mike (Becky) Baker of Portage; seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and four brothers: Fred Baker and Steve, Barry and John Wertz.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, John Wertz; and two brothers: John and Bill Baker.

Dale was a 1961 graduate of Altoona High School and served for seven years in the U.S. Army National Guard. He retired as a state correctional officer from the Commonwealth with 25 years of service, and he had also worked for 15 years for the county prison.

Friends will be received from 2 until the 4 p.m. memorial service Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, at Santella Funeral Home, Chaplin Tony Conrad officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
