Carol A. Dunkel, 69, of Altoona, passed away Thursday October 4, 2018 at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Domenic and Antionette (Naimo) Parisi. She was twice married: first to Roy Michael Knight and then to the late Robert P. Dunkel. She is survived by a daughter, Roxanne (Jason) Streightiff; three grandchildren: Kylie, Shannon, and Matthew; and a brother, Michael Parisi. She is also survived by her best friend, Gladys and adopted grandson, Zachary. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Marie and two brothers, John and Danny. Carol was a 1967 graduate of Altoona High and attended Prontos Cosmetology School. She worked as a school bus driver with the Altoona School District. Carol was a member of the Women's Auxiliary and volunteered with the Salvation Army. She also enjoyed spending her free time on the computer. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Friends will be received from 9am until the 10 am service, Monday October 8, 2018 at the Santella Funeral Home. A committal service will be held at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home in memory of Carol.
