Daniel P. Rettburg, 51, Altoona, and a longtime resident of Texas, passed away Monday, Aug.

He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., son of John C. Rettburg and Nicola (Lamont) Kaltenbrunner.

Surviving are his parents; his stepparents: Ned and Wendy White; a sister, Kimberley Halsey of Chesapeake, Va.; and two brothers: John Rettburg of Altoona and Michael White in Missouri.

Danny was a talented musician who played flute, piccolo, saxophone, piano and French horn. He was a member of Johnstown Youth Symphony and later was a singer/songwriter for the Christian band, New Freedom. He loved nature, history and animals, especially his beloved beagles. He also loved his family and spending time with them. He will be dearly missed by both family and friends.

Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. memorial service Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at Santella Funeral Home, Altoona, Chaplain Timothy Guyer officiating. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
