David J. Bell Sr., 75, Altoona, passed away unexpectedly Saturday at his home. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Trovarelli) Bell. On Feb. 19, 1966, he married Patricia Roscia.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years; three daughters: Cynthia (Brian) Murphy, Lori (Ron) Benton, and Lisa Thomas; a son, David J. Bell Jr.; 4 grandchildren: Matthew Murphy, Jessica Murphy, Tyler Miller, and Shane Thomas; 2 great-grandchildren: Brayden and Avalynn Lauritsen; two sisters: Barbara (Bill) Gursky, of Jennerstown, and Karen (Rob) Miller, of Hampton, VA; two brothers: Joseph (Janet) Bell, of Duncansville, and Michael Bell, of Altoona; his mother and father-in-law, Katherine and Frank Roscia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Jacelyn Lauritsen.

David was a 1965 graduate of Altoona High School and retired in 2005 after 33 years of service as a machinist for Norfolk Southern. He was known as a traveling DJ, "Rockin Robin" and was known for his love and knowledge of music, especially 50's and 60's.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, playing pinochle, and traveling to the casino with his best friend, Ed.

David was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society and the Unter Uns. He also volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul Food Bank.

He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022, in the Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Altoona. Masks are requested to be worn during the visitation and Mass.
