Obituary

David L. Nichols, 58, Altoona, passed away Monday after a short battle with liver disease. He was born in Altoona, son of Walter J. and the late Regina M. (Rickabaugh) Nichols.

He is survived by a daughter, Rachel Nichols; a son, Michael Nichols, four grandchildren: Brayden Garland, Rogan Collins, Kaiden Nichols-Collins, and Dominic Nichols-Collins; two brothers: Walter E. Nichols and Manny (Karen) Nichols.

Dave was preceded in death by his mother; his life partner, Marguerita (Peggy) Francella; a son, Christopher J. Nichols; and a brother, Stanley D. Nichols.

Dave was a graduate of Altoona High School, earned numerous certifications in environmental remediation and was a certified welder.

He was also a prior firefighter for Allegheny Township.

Dave was an avid hunter and spent many hunting seasons up at his favorite stand at Bennington Curve in the Sugar Run area. He loved NASCAR and attended many events. His largest passion was responding to environmental spills and striving to make the environment better than before the incident. He also enjoyed boating, loved his family and worked for the family business since he was 15.

He loved calling his brothers at all times of the day-night and always ending the call with "I love ya, Bro."

Friends will be received from 2-4pm and from 6-8pm Friday, July 30, 2021 at Santella Funeral Home. At the request of the deceased, there will be no service. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
