He was born in Altoona, son of Frank W. Sr. and Nannie E. (Bollinger) Chathams. He married Phyllis A. Henderson on Aug. 22, 1970, at Second Avenue United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years; two daughters: Brenda Law of Gallitzin and Tamara Kuba of Bethel; a son, David Chathams of Tyrone; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Sandy McDermott of Altoona and a brother, John Chathams of Flinton.

Frank was a graduate of Altoona High School. He retired from Pacifico Bakery. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at the Axe & Santella Family Chapel, 1534 Fourth St., Pastor Evelyn Madison officiating. Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Leslie E. Axe Funeral Home, 1520 Fourth St., Altoona.
