Obituary

Joanne M. DeCriscio, 83, Altoona, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Newry, daughter of the late Anna Bogel. She married Edmund DeCriscio on Jan. 4, 1949. He passed away Feb. 13, 2015. Surviving are her three loving children: Carol (Bill) Adams, Anna (Bob) Fochler and Edmund F.; eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She will be sadly missed by a cousin, Fred (Shirley) Baker; her dear friend, Helen Cuomo; and all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Bogel; a son, Lannie D.; and a sister, Peggy Trexler. Joanne was employed by Town and Country Department Store until its closing. She then retired from Sears as a sales associate. Joanne was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the Bavarian Aid Society. She enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards with her special group of friends and bingo. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2015, at Santella Funeral Home, where a Vigil for the Deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery. In memory of Joanne, donations may be given to Alzheimer's Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
