John Irvin Dunn, 88, a resident at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, passed away Tuesday at the home.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Anthony Jr. and Amanda (Parks) Dunn. He married Louise Jane Walk, who preceded him in death on Nov. 22, 2007.

Surviving are a stepdaughter, Dottie Ickes of Altoona; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Boyd Dunn of Altoona.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence.

John was a corporal in the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean conflict. He retired as a welder for Conrail. He was a member of First Church of the Brethren, Altoona.

Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. memorial service Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Santella Funeral Home, Altoona, Pastor Robert Wharton officiating and military honors provided by the U.S. Army and Blair County Honor Guard. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
