Peter J. Carnicella, 94, Altoona, passed away Sunday at his residence.

Surviving are his loving wife of 70 years, Yolanda; a son, John B. (Terry) Carnicella of Altoona; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Josephine Corbo in Massachusetts.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Victoria Carnicella.

Peter was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and he served as a sergeant during WWII, where he was awarded two Bronze Stars. He retired as a freight handler for the Pennsylvania Railroad and from Altoona Area Vocational-Technical School.

He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona, a member of the Buccineese Society, Bavarian Aid Society and Unter Uns.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona. Committal with full military honors will be at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona. Arrangements are by Santella Funeral Home, Altoona.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 806 11th St., Altoona, PA 16602.
