Robert W. Schandelmeier Sr., 58, Altoona, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday at his residence.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Robert F. Schandelmeier and Peggy A. (Coble) Schandelmeier-Bowers.

Surviving are his fiancee, Heather Kaspick; three sons: Robert W. Jr., Marcus Shuf and Naithan Fredericks; two grandchildren: Dakota and Brianna; one sister, Peggy Jo Burnett-Norris; and five brothers: Steven Schandelmeier, Andrew Schandelmeier, Dennis Schandelmeier, Daniel Bowers Jr. and Roy Bowers.

Robert served as a private in the U.S. Army from 1977-81. He was employed as a maintenance worker at DelGrosso's Park Laguna Splash, Tipton.

He was an avid fan of NASCAR, and he loved attending Pittsburgh Steelers football games. Robert also enjoyed fishing, hunting and being outdoors.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at The Axe and Santella Family Chapel, 1534 Fourth St., Altoona, where a funeral service with full military honors will be held immediately after the visitation at noon on Saturday. Arrangements are by Santella Funeral Home, Altoona.
