Rose D. Cortese, 97, Duncansville, passed away Wednesday at UPMC Altoona.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Canio and Santa (Larossa) Rizzo. On Dec. 1, 1945, she married Michael F. Cortese, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1991.

Surviving are two sons: Kenneth of Virginia Beach, Va., and Frank of Duncansville.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Rose was a graduate of Altoona High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona.

Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rose may be made the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602 or to St Vincent de Paul Society Soup Kitchen, 2201 Union Ave., Altoona, PA 16601.
