She was born in Lilly, daughter of Clair and Alma (Eckenrode) Stewart. She married William Franklin Hewitt, and he passed away in 1975. Surviving are three daughters: Jenda Brown of Wilmington, N.C., Alice Hull of Farmington, N.Y., and Diana Holsinger of Altoona; two sons: Larry of Altoona and Bill in North Dakota; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Ray; and a grandson, Jeff Holsinger.

Rose was a graduate of Altoona High School and worked as a hotel manager for Dry Dock Motel in Carolina Beach, N.C. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. At Rose's request, there will be no service. Interment will be made at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
