Barbara K. Balasco, 90, Richboro, formerly of Altoona, passed away Sunday at her son’s home. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late John and Helen (Beard) Ebersole.
She was an Altoona girl who graduated from Altoona Area High School Class of 1950.
On July 29, 1953, she married her one true love, Gerald M. Balasco. Together they moved to Fairless Hills, Pa. where they raised three sons.
Barbara worked as a medical assistant for 15 years and was a Bucks County committee woman. She was involved in various activities throughout her community, including her son’s PTA programs. Upon retirement, she moved to the Pocono Mountains with her husband before returning to Altoona in 2004.
Surviving are her loving husband of 69 years, Gerald M. Balasco; as well as her sons: Dale (Katheryn) Balasco, Brian Balasco and Joel (Mary) Balasco, all of Bucks County; six grandsons: Gerald, Kyle, Trey, Thomas, Christopher and Jesse; and a granddaughter, Holly Dicarlantonio in Virginia. Barbara was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren; as well her brother and sisters-in-law, Steve and Theresa Pelligrine (her best friend) of Altoona, along with Ronald and Barbara Balasco of Fairless Hills. She also had many loving nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Wilbur Ebersole of Altoona and William E. Ebersole of Eden Prairie, Minn.; and a sister-in-law, Rosanna Ebersole, also of Altoona.
Barbara enjoyed traveling and crafts, where she celebrated each Christmas with a personalized ornament for each of her son’s family trees, signifying the years they had been married. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her….God Bless, Rest in Peace.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, at Santella Funeral Home where a vigil for the deceased will be held; and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at the funeral home.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
