Catherine E. Harris, 70, Altoona, passed away Wednesday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late James D. Wineland and Anna C. (Gladis) Wineland.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha Harris and husband, Quinn Haberl; 11 siblings: Mary Ann Stich, James G. Wineland, Martha J. Rentz, Michael A. Wineland, Rose M. Bittner, Dorothy L. Van Denburg, David A. Wineland, Ruth A. Daughenbaugh, Teresa M. Hoover, Helen C. Carper and Patty A. Sanders; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friend, Katherine Clegg.
Catherine was preceded in death by five siblings: Margaret J. Wineland, Dianna Wineland, Donna Wineland, Joseph J. Wineland and Leroy Wineland.
Catherine graduated from the Pittsburgh School for the blind.
She enjoyed singing with her beautiful voice, reading braille books, being part of the Family Life group and a lector at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
She loved to watch soaps and Little House on the Prairie as well as attending conventions for the National Federation of the Blind.
She was a member of the Blair-Clearfield County Association for the Blind and the National Federation of the Blind. Catherine was also a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2022, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
