Catherine M. (Stellabotte) Mastalski

Catherine M. Mastalski, 86, Altoona, passed away Wednesday at her home, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Rocco and Mary (Reghetti) Stellabotte. She later married Stanley Mastalski.

She is survived by her loving husband; a son, Randy (Becky) Kowalczyk; 6 daughters: Jackie (Rob) Rabenstein, Loreen Rosser, Mary (Tony) Miller, Autumn (Mark) Kleiner, Christina (Rich) Wyrwas, and Elizabeth (Jimmy) Noye; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and her best friend, Pat Taylor.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Kowalczyk; son, Stanley; grandson, Randy Jae Stitt; and 2 brothers: James and Ross Stellabotte.

Catherine was a Catholic High School and the Altoona School of Commerce graduate. She worked for Jay’s Diner, Albright’s personal care home, Sylvania, Mento’s-Family Business, and Home Nursing Agency.

She enjoyed music, especially Barbara Streisand, the casino, and playing Bingo. She loved to sing and dance and give polka lessons. She was a great cook, especially the Italian and Polish traditions. No one ever left her home hungry. 

Catherine was a loving mother, grandmother, and aunt. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Friends will be received from 5-7pm, Friday Sept. 25, 2020 in the Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am, Saturday Sept. 26, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 511-20th St. Altoona. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
