Charlotte M. Irwin, 89, Altoona, passed away Thursday. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Martin and Mary (Van Vackenberg) Brumm. She married Joseph N. Irwin in 1954 and he preceded her in death in 1996.
Surviving are her children: Douglas A. Irwin (Susan), Donna J. Kelleher (Hugh), Diane M. Irwin (Wendi); and daughter in law, Sheila Irwin.
She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Shane (Christin), Nicholas, Megan and Kelly Irwin, Austin Irwin, Jennifer Smith, and Lucas and Rory Kelleher; and 9 great-grandchildren: Kierra, Ashlynn, Alannah, Morgan, Nicholas, Sarah, Kayden, Sayla and Jaxson.
She is preceded in death by a son, Dennis E. Irwin; her brother, John Brumm; her sisters: Teresa Lechner and Dolores Clark; and a great-grandson: Tyler Irwin.
Charlotte retired from K-Mart with over 30 years of dedicated service. She also worked as a caregiver serving area families for many years.
First and foremost, Charlotte loved her family. She had a joyful spirit, a generous heart and always put others first. She was a good friend who helped many over the years. With her entertaining personality and witty humor you couldn’t spend time with her without a good laugh!
She was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Friends will be received from 4pm to 6pm on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at the Santella Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 6pm. Interment will be at Alto Reste Park.
