Cora R. Pincherri, 97, Altoona, PA passed away Tuesday at Graystone Manor.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Michael and Jeanette (Mirabella) Pompa. On May 28, 1949 she married Louis H. Pincherri Sr. and he preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 2004.
Cora was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an Altoona High School graduate. She first worked at Sylvania as a ‘floorwalker’ during WWII and was proud to have worked at McCrory’s downtown in Altoona. She went on buying trips and her soon-to-be husband was more than happy to drive her to them in his new 1940 Nash Coup. They were one of the first married couples in Altoona to own a car. She chose to become a homemaker to her family.
She enjoyed cooking, watching TV, especially QVC and the Turner Classic Movie channel, sports, football, baseball, and listening to the radio. Her greatest joy was her family and she loved spending time with each of them. She prayed often and always said how she was blessed by God for her wonderful family. Her husband single handedly built the home they loved, were proud to own, live in, share, invite others, and raise the family. They rarely went on vacation, preferring to stay home and enjoy their family time throughout the years. To quote Cora, “We will always be family. No one can change that.”
She is survived by two sons: Anthony Pincherri and Lou (Cindy) Pincherri Jr.; three grandchildren: Troy (Briana), Rachel (John) and Corey (Kristin); and seven great-grandchildren: Taden, Deeno, Hunter, Connor, Barrett, Sophie, and Cam.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Yolanda Manning and Virginia Hunt; and a brother, who passed during World War II, Anthony J. Pompa.
Cora was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and served as Treasurer for the Saint Anthony Society of Altoona.
Friends and family will be received from 2-4pm and 6-8pm Friday, Dec. 9, 2022 in the Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9am Saturday Dec. 10, 2022 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
