Cynthia Snyder Obituary

Cynthia M. Snyder, 61, of Altoona passed away Tuesday at UPMC Altoona after a rapid battle with cancer.  She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Daniel and Judith (Pompa) Caputo, and preceeded in death by late brother, David Caputo.

Cindy is survived by her loving husband, Richard Applas Jr.  In addition, she leaves behind her two sons: John Robert Thompson Snyder Jr. and Jeremy Atillio Snyder, as well as daughter-in-law Chelsey (Maiden) Snyder, and two grand-children: Sophia Quinn Snyder (3) and Vance Robert Snyder (6 mos.).

Cindy was an Altoona High School graduate, enjoyed varsity cheerleading, and holds a degree from Point Park College in Accounting.  She held numerous administrative positions around the Altoona and surrounding area, while always careful to prioritize the raising of her sons.  Later in life, she followed the calling of her late mother by completing her nursing certificate.

While slight in stature, Cindy developed a passion for martial arts at a young age. She proceeded to earn her Black Belt in Karate by her late teenage years, competing and winning a National Championship in Boston, MA.  The values displayed in excelling to such a degree were carried over to her parenting processes and instilled discipline to succeed, accountability, and most notably, love and trust.

As her children grew, Cindy adopted and filled her nest with two dogs, Shea and Emma, who she loved very dearly.  She enjoyed taking them on walks and tending to their backyard oasis where she would spend many an evening.

She spent the majority of her life living on Aldrich Avenue, where she developed life-long friendships.  When away from home, she loved to visit her grandchildren in Georgia and enjoy the southern weather.

At this time, there will be no viewing or services.  Arrangements are by Santella Funeral Home.
