Dina Temofonte, 94, formerly of Altoona, passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday at Homewood at Martinsburg. She was born near Milan, Italy, the daughter of the late Ludovico and Maria Barbarazi. Later, she and her family immigrated to Chambery, France. There, during World War II, she met an American soldier, Silvio P. (Tim) Temofonte. They married on June 6, 1946 at the Cathedral in Chambery.
Surviving is her husband of 74 years; one son, Alan S. Temofonte and wife Elaine; two granddaughters, Jenifer L. Temofonte and Dr. Nicole L. Temofonte and husband, Michael Grimes; one beloved great-granddaughter, Kathryn Rose Grimes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Antonio, Gino, and Giovanni; two brothers-in-law and their wives; and several nieces and nephews.
Dina was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Lakemont.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation. A private funeral Mass will be celebrated at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are by Santella Funeral Home.
