Domenic A. “Nick” Caminiti Jr., 82, Altoona, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday February 12, 2024 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Domenic A. and Phyllis Ann (Fusco) Caminiti Sr.
He is survived by his wife Gercina “J” (Calmon) Caminiti; daughter Kathleen (Caminiti) Carr; sons James D. Caminiti and Carlos A. Calmon; grandchildren Heather, Jayde, Hannah and Isabella; great-grandchildren Harper & Maxwell; brother, James S. (Dorothy) Caminiti; nephew Nicholas; and former wife Helen (Valentino) Caminiti.
Nick was a 1959 Altoona High School graduate and completed the PA Railroad Apprenticeship program in 1963. After retiring from the PA Railroad, he owned and operated an international inspection service called Global Surveillance.
He was a passionate Steelers and Pirates fan, avid Ham radio operator and a member of the Bavarian Aid Society. Nick enjoyed meeting up with his friends at the Super Sheetz while they enjoyed coffee and conversations.
No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation in memory of Nick.
