Donna J. (Parson) McConnell

Donna J. McConnell, 82, Altoona, went to be with her lord, peacefully, on Sunday at UPMC Altoona. Mrs. McConnell was born August 7th, 1940, in Altoona, the daughter of George and Mary (Caso) Parson. 

Donna graduated from Altoona Area High School, class of 1958, and married George McConnell of Altoona on May 16th, 1959.

Donna worked hard to support her family throughout her life, as a textile worker and later ret from Veeder Root in 2006.  Mrs. McConnell was a member of St. Therese of the Child Christ Church in Altoona.

Mrs. McConnell was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, George R. Parson; her husband, and sons: Jeffrey and Bradley. 

Donna is survived by her son, Christopher (Michele); daughter, Erin (Doug Ellis), sister-in-law, Linda Parson; 4 grandchildren: Nicholas (Elizabeth), Tyler, Bradley (Barbara), Elayni, and several great-grandchildren.

 Friends will be received from 9 until 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023, at Santella Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated following the visitation at 11 a.m. at St Therese of the Child Jesus.  Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made on Donna’s behalf to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and the Central PA Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd. Altoona PA 16602.
