Elizabeth “Betty” (Chamberlain) Morgan, 90, of Roaring Spring, passed on to be with the Lord on Sunday at her home. She was born in Altoona to Andrew and Gertrude (Fochler) Chamberlain. Elizabeth married Orville Morgan on Apr. 22, 1950 and they had 10 children together. Orville preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 1996.
Elizabeth was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Hollidaysburg and later St. Patrick’s Church in Newry. She worked numerous jobs over the years, her last being at K-Mart in Altoona, where she retired after many years.
She volunteered at the Claysburg Senior Center and the Southern Blair Center in East Freedom for many years after retirement.
Elizabeth enjoyed gardening (flowers and vegetables), baking and spending time with family and friends.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her children: Mary Elizabeth Morgan, Virginia and son-in-law, Stephen Staniszewski, Frank and daughter-in-law, Charlotte Morgan, Richard Morgan, and daughter-in-law, Peggy Morgan; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild, as well as her brothers: Dick (Tiny), Bill, Frank, and Andy; and her sister, Ada.
Elizabeth is survived by children: Peggy (Bob) Dodson, Bill Morgan, Bessie (Tim) Quarello, May J Morgan, John (Sandy) Morgan, Calvin (Cathy) Morgan; daughter-in-law, LeeAnn Morgan; her sister, Mary; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023, at Santella Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Church in Newry. A private interment will be held at Diehl’s Crossroad Cemetery.
