Esker H. Watkins, 83, Altoona, passed away Monday at Midtown Oaks Rehabilitation Center. He was born in State College, son of the late Raymond and Helen Watkins.
He is survived by his loving fiancee, Barbara Crain; two sisters: Virginia Myers and Betty Delozier; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Snyder; and a sister, Shirley Channels.
Esker earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester.
He served in the United States Air Force and later worked as a technician for an electronics company.
Esker volunteered with the Altoona Library for over 10 years. He also participated in the after school program at Evergreen Manor, where he implemented many games and activities for the kids.
He was a member of Wehnwood United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024 at Wehnwood United Methodist Church, where a memorial service will take place after the visitation at 11 a.m. Arrangements are by Santella Funeral Home.
