Hazel MacLaury Obituary

Hazel R. MacLaury, 100, passed away on January 10 at Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg. She was born in Elmira, N.Y., daughter of the late Ralph and Ethel (Sheldon) Dunn. She later married Norman MacLaury who preceded her in death in 2006.

She is survived by two daughters: Normagene (Ted) Forsyth and Eileen (Ron) Roefaro; 4 grandchildren: Christopher (Vita) Forsyth, John (Nicole) Roefaro, Anthony (Stephanie) Roefaro, Marci (John) Waite; 7 great-grandchildren: Ryan Waite, Nicholas, Nathan, Anthony, Domenic, Giovanna, and Sophia Roefaro and 2 great-great grandchildren: Shye Waite and Elara Roefaro.

Hazel was the last surviving member of her family and was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters as well as a great grandson, Tyler Waite.

Hazel loved to garden, cook, crochet, sew, camp, travel, dance, and ride motorcycles. She volunteered through Blair Senior Services in various capacities and was a member of the Blair County Assoc for the Blind.

If desired, donations may be made to Blair County Assoc for the Visually Handicapped, 300 5th Ave, Altoona, or Blair Senior Services, 1320 12th Ave, Altoona.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Elmira, New York.
