Howard J. Giordano Sr., 73, of Altoona, passed away Thursday evening at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Joseph Jr. and Betty Jane (Cartwright) Giordano. He later married Susan Caporuscio in 1966.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan; six children: Howard (Gina) Giordano Jr., Danielle (Bill) Hatfield, John (Stacey) Giordano, Christian (Wendy) Giordano, Joseph (Misty) Giordano, and Shawn (Tracey) Giordano; 11 grandchildren: Tiffany, Ashley, Brandon, Cody, Jordan, Haley, Giavonna, Mya, Hannah, Matthew and Katelynn; four sisters: Joan (Joseph) Angermeier, Jo Carole Anderson, Jean Lucas and Delores (John) Bosserman; brothers-in-law: Francis, Mark, John, Christopher and Matthew; sister-in-law, Gretchen; nieces and nephews; a special niece, Julie Anderson; and his beloved dog, Maggie.
Howard was preceded in death by siblings: Rose Mastos, Anthony “Sonny” Giordano, Mary “Patty” Giordano and Robert P. Giordano.
Howard was a 1967 graduate of Altoona Area High School and mainly worked as a printer. He was semi-retired and helped his son with Giordano Towing.
He was an avid bowler, enjoyed working on cars, hanging with his grandkids, NASCAR, football, cooking, gambling, and especially loved being with his “Sue.”
Howard was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Mar. 8, 2022, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Mar. 9, 2022, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
