James A. Arend

James A. Arend, 64, Altoona, passed away unexpectedly Friday at his residence. He was born in Altoona, the son of Wilbert J. and Betty J. (Barclay) Arend.

He had been employed at Blair Imaging for the past 36 years.

James was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, but he loved his family more.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Catherine B. Lantz; and half brother, John Shackelton.

Surviving are siblings: Wilbert J. III, Andrew J., Robert L. and Martha J. Slowik, all of Altoona, along with Mary Grace (Michael) of Frankstown Road, Eleanor S. Christine of Bald Eagle, and a half brother, Charles Holsinger in Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2023, at Santella Funeral Home. 

Committal prayers will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023, at Calvary Cemetery by Pastor Ron Baker. Full military rights will follow.
