James J. “Jim” BonGiorno, 62, of Duncansville, passed away Monday at his home. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Angelo and Carmela (Baldessaro) BonGiorno. He later married Kathleen “Katie” Pfahler.
He is survived by: his loving wife of 44 years; four children: Angela BonGiorno, Joseph (Kalee) BonGiorno, Casey (Robert) Carnell and Elvis (Alexis) BonGiorno; 12 grandchildren: Kylie, Anthony, Shane, Nathaniel, Nicholas, Vian, Tito, Paige, Haley, Nazareth, Everleigh and Giselle; three great-grandchildren: Noelle, Elias, and Weston; two sisters: Kelly Pacifico and Teresa (Larry) Webber; nephews: Lucas Webber and Anthony BonGiorno; niece, Olivia BonGiorno; and his dog Bruno.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents: Angelo and Carmela BonGiorno; an infant daughter, Teresa; a brother, David BonGiorno; a niece, Brooke Pacifico; and his beloved German Shephard, Paxton.
Jim was a graduate of Altoona Area High School and VoTech, specializing as an electrician. He is most notably known as the owner and operator of Jim’s Hauling and Cleanup Division for over 42 years
He enjoyed time on the lake on his boat “Carmela” and watching Steelers football with his close friends. He was a passionate Elvis impersonator for many years.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2023, in the Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
