Janet M. (Braun) Azeles

Janet M. Azeles, 91, Altoona, passed away Tuesday at Garvey Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Frank and Madeline (Weakland) Braun. On Sept. 28, 1953 she married Matthew O. Azeles and he preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 1993.

She is survived by two sons: Matthew G. (Bonnie) Azeles, of Lebanon and Todd D. (Michelle) Azeles, of Duncansville; 6 grandchildren: Matthew, Caroline, Jennifer, Lauren, Dane and Todd Matthew; 5 great-grandchildren: Ella, Cameron, Anthony, Damian and Nora; and two sisters: Carol Jean McCoy and Martha Wooden.

Janet was preceded in death by two infant children: Anna Marie and Gabriel M.; and 3 sisters: Ruperta Wooden, Ruth Sherwood, and Beverly Hartman.

Janet was a 1952 graduate of Temple University and worked her entire career as a registered nurse at the James E. VanZandt Medical Center.

She was a member of Mary Queen of Angels Fraternity, Catholic Nurses, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Friends will be received from 3-7pm Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022 in the Santella Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am Monday, Oct. 24, 2022 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
