John J. Castrichini

John J. Castrichini, 90, formerly of Altoona, passed away Tuesday at the Laurel View Village in Davidsville. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Luigi and Vincenza (Tricone) Castrichini. He later married Myrtle Quinn, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by nieces and nephews: Terri, Julie, and Ron; and his close friend, Patricia Reap.

He was preceded in death by 3 sisters: Emanuella Palomba, Mae Sardella, and Mary Roessing; and four brothers: Luigi Jr., Thomas, James, and Bart Castrichini.

John was an Altoona High School graduate and later graduated from Triune University with a Business degree. He worked as the personnel director at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

John enjoyed sports, especially playing football and basketball.

He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Friends will be received from 10am to 11am, Monday, Jan. 11, 2021 in the Santella Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am, Monday, Jan. 11, 2021 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery with military honors.
