John H. "Jack" Gutzwiller

John H. “Jack” Gutzwiller, 80, Altoona, passed away Sunday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Walter and Dorothy (Cross) Gutzwiller and later married his wife, Cheryl Johnson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years; a daughter, Erica (Rick) Hoover; two granddaughters: Madison (Dominick) Kidd and Cameryn Bowser; two sisters: Mary Jane Hartz and Gloria (Jack) Trauger; a brother, Timothy Gutzwiller; several nieces and nephews; and two special nephews: Brian and Brent Gutzwiller.

Jack was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Gutzwiller.

Jack was an Altoona High School graduate and served four years in the United States Air Force. He later worked 39 years in the shipping and receiving department for SKF.

He enjoyed hunting and bass fishing and was a member of the Ashville Bass Club.

Jack will always be remembered for his generosity, sense of humor, sweet tooth, and kind soul.

Friends will be received from 4pm to 6pm Friday, Sept. 30, 2022 in the Santella Funeral Home. A military service will be held following the visitation at 6pm.
